Facial mesotherapy
Mesotherapy consists of superficial micro-injections into the dermis with a mix of substances that benefit the skin, most often non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants. It does not add volume; it improves hydration and elasticity (a “skin booster”). It can be used on the face, neck, chest and backs of the hands.
Microneedling
Microneedling (for example with a Dermapen) uses a head with very fine needles that creates controlled micro-channels in the skin. The skin responds by producing collagen and elastin. The treatment helps with uneven texture, enlarged pores, superficial acne scars and fine lines. It can be combined with serums applied during the procedure.
Who it is for
- dehydrated, dull skin that lacks radiance;
- fine lines and uneven texture;
- enlarged pores and superficial acne scars (microneedling);
- maintenance between more intensive treatments.
How it is done
The skin is cleansed and a numbing cream is applied. A session takes 30–60 minutes. Usually 3–4 sessions are recommended, 2–4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions.
After treatment
- redness and small bumps (after mesotherapy) or a mild sunburn look (after microneedling) for 1–3 days;
- no make-up for 12–24 hours;
- careful sun protection;
- avoid saunas, swimming pools and exfoliants for a few days.
Contraindications
Pregnancy, active skin infections (including herpes or severe inflammatory acne in the area), isotretinoin in recent months, bleeding disorders, and a tendency to keloid scars.
Results vary from one patient to another.
